Verde Valley, Arizona

This rich birding corridor in the center of Arizona hosts its annual festival with guided walks, workshops, tours, trail rides, train rides, presentations, song and scenery. There will be educational opportunities for the whole family, the opportunity to see what's new in the birding world, and excursions of interest to experienced and novice birders and outdoor enthusiasts.

The relaxed western atmosphere of central Arizona lends itself to getting close to nature.

We will take easy strolls in the State Park. Adventure along a marsh in search of the elusive Sora.

Travel by train up a wilderness canyon to a heron rookery while scanning for the Black-Hawk and Bald Eagle, or take the ol' cowboy's mode of transportation while searching the uplands.

There's even a daylong trip to check out the regal California Condor in the wild. We will venture up red rock canyons, climb mountains and follow rivers to find birds and enjoy our natural landscape. All this topped with evenings of interesting conversation, good food and entertainment.

There are multitudes of things to do in the Verde Valley, so come early and stay long, to see it all. Close by are several State Parks, historic sites, archaeological sites, hiking trails, scenic red-rock country and bubbling creeks.

Modern hotels, restaurants and shopping are convenient throughout the area. For those who prefer to enjoy the festivities in rustic style, we have set aside the group camping area at Dead Horse Ranch State Park for festival participants.
